First Porthos infrastructure building completed
Transfer of electricity substation to Stedin
The transfer of the electricity substation to Stedin is a milestone in the realisation of the Porthos infrastructure: it is the first building to be delivered construction-wise. Commissioned by main contractor Bonatti, Van Boekel/Züblin constructed the building: a prefabricated concrete structure measuring about 12 by 11 metres and six metres high, with ceramic facade finishing and facilities (HVAC, lighting and crane track).
Now that Porthos has transferred the right of use of the electricity substation to Stedin, Stedin can start installing the installations and network equipment that will soon supply the compressor station.
Stedin has been involved in the Porthos project for quite some time and from different departments. Martin Martens, Regional Director Rotterdam Port at Stedin, explains: “Last year, we realised two construction connections so that the directional drilling to the North Sea could be carried out. From April, we will relocate an existing medium-voltage cable in the pipeline strip along Droespolderweg near Rozenburg on behalf of Porthos. This cable will be moved and deepened to make room for the future Porthos pipeline. This will involve crossing the entire pipeline strip at a depth of 2.70 metres, containing various industrial pipelines from bp, Gasunie and Shell, among others. This work site is located in the Rozenburg primary water barrier.”
We achieved this milestone within the scope of the compressor station together, thanks to the great effort, commitment and good cooperation of all involved from Porthos, Bonatti and Van Boekel/Züblin. We wish Stedin good luck with the further work in the electricity substation and look forward to the next milestones in the Porthos project.
